How to make a great posting

A posting is a two-minute form, but a few choices inside it decide whether your game seats a full table or misses the drop. Here’s what moves the needle.

Sell the night, not the rulebook

The title and blurb are the only pitch players see on the board. Name the game system, then say what an evening at your table actually feels like: “Curse of Strahd — gothic horror, heavy roleplay, dice will betray you.” Two sentences beat two paragraphs. Players are choosing a night out, not reading a syllabus.

Wide time windows win tables

This is the single biggest lever. The drop seats the combination of games that fills the most seats, and a game that can run 6–10 on Thursday or Friday gives the solver far more ways to say yes than one pinned to Friday at 7. Every hour you add to your window is another chance to be the game that fits. If you truly can only run one exact slot, post it — but know you’re competing with games that can bend.

Check every venue you’d actually go to

Your game can only be placed at a venue you checked. One venue means one set of tables to compete for; three venues means three. The rule of thumb: if you’d genuinely show up there, check it.

Set an honest player range

The minimum is the number where the game is still worth running — not your dream table. A game with a minimum of 3 can seat and run while a stricter game waits. The maximum is a hard cap; the drop will never seat more than it.

Beginner-friendly is a bigger pool

If your table genuinely works for first-timers, say so with the flag. New players outnumber veterans on any given night, and many filter for it.

After you post: let it work

Your dashboard shows real interest counts as they come in — no action needed. The drop decides two days before each date in your window. If your game misses, the notice tells you exactly why and what would fix it — usually “widen the window” or “one more player” — and applying the suggestion takes one selection. A miss isn’t a failure; it’s the network telling you precisely what to adjust before tomorrow’s drop.
